To Love or To Be Loved? (Poem)

And he asked me “which would you rather: to love or to be loved”

Well...I thought...to be loved is merely effortless through the essence of simplicity

Such simplicity that it requires no energy from the party who receives the love.

But to love is the most complex form of nature one can ever express

Such complexity that it requires true patience and virtue to fully love someone unconditionally.

So then I answered, “I would much rather chose to love than to be loved.”

“Why is that?” he said.

“Because although to love someone is more complex and more challenging, it is infinitely more rewarding, more empowering, more undeniably fulfilling.”
