Do a Kickflip

It feels so surreal to announce my second self-published and self-illustrated book, "Do a Kickflip." This book is a collection of 35 skateboarding haikus and illustrations. Although haikus are conventionally regarded to be revolved around nature, I approach the art of haikus around a subject that resonates with me: skateboarding. I aim to captivate my readers with my relatable and humorous content. I also hope that this easy and enjoyable read will leave you with a smile on your face and an eagerness to skate.

I have been working on "Do a Kickflip" for over two years, and I am so excited to finally share it with the world! "Do a Kickflip" is live on Amazon for $5.99 (linked above). If you also shoot me an email or a direct message on Instagram with the proof of your purchase, I will personally send you a complimentary bookmark and sticker to your desired address. I cannot thank you enough for your support— my gratitude to you is immeasurable!
I would also like to take a moment to acknowledge some special people who have been a part of my journey with "Do a Kickflip."

I would like to express my appreciation to my brother, Daniel Miller, whom this book is dedicated to. If it wasn't for you, I would've never been so exposed and influenced by skateboarding growing up. You not only shaped this book, but you also shaped who I am today.
I would also like to thank my favorite professor, Paul Tayyar. I am so glad that you assigned haikus as a part of our wiring portfolios for English 280: Creative Writing. I cannot thank you enough for believing in me and encouraging me to publish "Do a Kickflip."

I would like to thank Dani Hobson, who shot all of these amazing photographs. Thank you for capturing "Do a Kickflip" and incorporating your creative touch to it too.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Deanna Templeton, who allowed me to use a photograph from our lovely shoot together for my About the Author page. It's such an honor to be a part of your work— thank you for allowing me to include it in mine too.

Lastly, I'd like to thank you, my dear reader. Your support truly means the world to me. And if there's one thing that I'd hope for you to gain from this book, it's that you'll never stop creating and never stop skating.

Yours Truly,
Melissa
